What to expect
A full day, built around the ceremony
The Iriji ceremony sits at the centre of the day. Around it there is a cultural market, food from local traders, performances from town unions and cultural troupes, masquerade display, a children's area and live music into the evening.
Traditional dress is encouraged. Many groups
wear matching cloth.
Bring seating if you prefer your own chair,
and dress for Manchester weather.
Card and cash are both usually accepted by
traders, but bring some cash.
The ceremony and main stage are livestreamed
for family who cannot travel.
